Message	If we're talking about OEM Nissan slingers, then the plenum is not involved. If we're talking about the SGP method of using the side brackets *with the plenum on*, then yeah, you need a plenum. I would not recommend pulling the engine with the side braces as shown in the linked post w/o the plenum in place to hole everything apart. The engine weights 500+lbs.. those side brackets will bend inward..... but at least it shouldn't fall off the lift that way.
